One Year Ago Today

Today is our 1st wedding anniversary. My, how things change in a year. I got weepy watching our wedding DVD - there was something so innocent and peaceful about that day. In that moment, all fears were set aside. As I write this, I feel more than just a year older. Life moves quick and every day we get to read one more page of the story. While it makes me a little sad to peek back at previous chapters, I can't wait to see what's next. To celebrate our anniversary, we had dinner last night at Biella in Excelsior - the same restaurant we ate at on September 1, 2007 - the night we got engaged. This morning we enjoyed a lovely brunch at the Woman's Club. Much like our wedding, it was a picture perfect morning. We ate outside on the Loggia and visited the rooftop afterwards. They've completely renovated the rooftop with tables and chairs, but, unfortunately for future couples, they will no longer allow wedding ceremonies to take place up there. For a gift, Kirk was clever enough to give me the traditional 1st anniversary gift of "paper." Luckily, the gift of paper he chose was tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. My mom and I saw it when we were in New York last December. Knowing how much I loved it, he bought us tickets so we could see it together. Let me just say, today, just like a year ago, was one fine day. Thanks Honey for being such a wonderful husband and for loving me!

First year tradition - eating the top layer of the wedding cake.
Up on the rooftop once again!
