Black Forest Inn

Guten Tag !!!
The Black Forest Inn is a Minneapolis staple and one of those places we talk about all year long - the opening of the outside courtyard is as much of a testament to summertime as a scorching sunburn, yet much more welcomed. Considering it's nearly August, we figured it was about time we head to the Black Forest Inn and unofficially welcome summer back. If you haven't guessed already, the Black Forest Inn is a German Restaurant that has graced the corner of Nicollet and 26th St for more than 40 years. The Black Forest was one of the first ethnic restaurants in this area, which has now become the most culturally diverse street of eateries in Minneapolis, and has earned the nickname of "Eat Street."

Not hungry for a beers n' brats? No fears, this place has an extensive menu that will satisfy most (I even noticed a Veggie Burger on the menu) but, don't let that fool you, this place is authentically German - the food is hearty, the beer is frothy & the wine is white (well, okay, you can order red, too). But what I love about this place is the hidden beer garden, complete with a water stream, checkered tablecloths and a cedar chip floor. It is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing brew on a warm summer evening.

The beer garden isn't the only thing worthwhile about the Black Forest Inn; it's no slouch in the wintertime either. Take a look at the picture of the interior bar; you can just imagine this scene coming to life on a cold winter night - a chorus of clanking beer mugs set to the tune of the contagious laughter of friends. As you can see, no matter what time of year it is, there is always something to look forward to at the Black Forest Inn. So, until next time, Auf Wiedersehen!
