Although it has been about a month since I took my annual Vikings road trip, I thought that I am obligated to do a blog about it. The last 2 years I have followed the purple to cold weather destinations such as Green Bay and Chicago, but this year I was determined to go somewhere warmer, enter San Francisco. I have never been to San Francisco and since my friend Matt has been living there for a few years, I thought it was a perfect combination.
I was only there for about 48 hours total but it was lovely. On the first night in SF, Matt took my brother Jeff, my friend Steve and myself around town. We went from bar to bar and enjoyed a number of beverages.
We ate at the House of Nanking in Chinatown, ate Sushi in the Mission district, watched a fight at some bar I don't recall the name of and finished a long evening of sightseeing and drinking 300 feet above the city at the bar on top of or hotel, the Marriott-San Francisco. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sfodt-san-francisco-marriott/
Since we were there in December the sun set rather early so I couldn't actually "see" a lot of the sights that night. Luckily I managed to awake from my haze rather early on Sunday morning and go for a walk. It was about 7am in San Fran, but I was used to CST so it was about 9am to me. It was a Sunday morning so I had the city all to myself. I was even able to meet a bird who is obviously used to tourists.
After I went for my walk, game time was around the corner. Why would you go to a Vikings-49ers game in San Francisco and wear all St. Cloud State stuff??? I don't know. . . ask Steve. I can't say Monster Park is much to brag about, but the views are stunning, see photos.
We ended the weekend back at our hotel where we met some new friends.
Overall, the trip was a great success. I only wish that I could have spent more time there. I see myself coming back to this city many times in the future. The only question now is. . . where am I going next year?
