Waiting for Pics

Hey There -
We're still waiting for wedding pics - once we have them, we will do a little post on the wedding - which, by the way, seems so long ago already.

In the meantime, we spent a lovely labor day weekend at Darel & Lois's lake home on Peligun Lake in Breezy Point, in the Brainard Lakes area. We had a wonderful time - the whole fam was there! The only pic I managed to get was of this adorable kitty at the Breezy Point resort, I wanted to steal him. With that said, I'm looking forward to Fall - this has always been my favorite time of year - time to get back into a routine and, hopefully, get our house together to sell. So, if your looking for a cute little condo, or know someone that is, let us know - more to come on that!! Hope all is well!!

Also, comment if you still read this - the more I know people read, the more I will post. . .:)

Blog Resurrection - No, Seriously

So, we started this blog about a year ago – got a ton of crap for it – and, eventually, stopped posting – not because we got crap for it – but rather we just got lazy. Then, a couple of months ago I posted something about being patient and bearing with us. Well, here we are – we’re back – or I am, at least. As Kirk and I continue the saga of our lives together – marriage, house, kids, I figured this blog will be an easy and fun way to keep you posted on the going-ons – as I know we all seem even too busy for email these days. Kirk and I are thrilled to be going on our honeymoon in August and will surely have some fun stories to share from that. Only 14 days until the wedding – not too nervous or stressed, yet – mostly with work, actually. But, anyways, this is my ‘hello, we’re back and we’ve missed you’ post – drop us a comment if your still checking in – even if you don’t know us – just let us know your out there – because, now, unlike before, we actually deserve some crap!

Please Bear with Us

I imagine anyone that was checking this blog has probably called it quits by now. But, if for some reason you happen to be checking in - thanks and sorry. I have many excuses as to why we haven't written in - (camera was broken for awhile; not going out as much to save for the wedding; too freakin cold to go out; when we go out we go to the same places, that we've already written about; busy planning wedding; traveling for work; I tell Kirk to post a blog, he forgets, I forget; sheer laziness. . . the list goes on).

But, I don't think our efforts are over. Summer will be here soon - we have the camera thing figured out - it will be warm enough to venture out a bit further. . .
plus, we will be taking another trip in August. We are going to Denmark and Sweden for our honeymoon - a bit different from the norm, but it should be a good time. It won't be hot and crowded like most places are in August - nor will it be cold and dark like it is the rest of the year in that part of the world. We are looking forward to seeing the sun at midnight and going for late night bike rides and strolls around the city (and whatever small islands we happen upon).

So, for those of you checking in - yes we are still alive. Maybe this doesn't have to be all about travel/food, etc. - but instead about what we are up to in general, it takes the pressure off just a bit.

Hope all is well with everyone. Take care and talk to you soon.

If You're Going . . . . to San Francisco

Although it has been about a month since I took my annual Vikings road trip, I thought that I am obligated to do a blog about it. The last 2 years I have followed the purple to cold weather destinations such as Green Bay and Chicago, but this year I was determined to go somewhere warmer, enter San Francisco. I have never been to San Francisco and since my friend Matt has been living there for a few years, I thought it was a perfect combination.

I was only there for about 48 hours total but it was lovely. On the first night in SF, Matt took my brother Jeff, my friend Steve and myself around town. We went from bar to bar and enjoyed a number of beverages.
We ate at the House of Nanking in Chinatown, ate Sushi in the Mission district, watched a fight at some bar I don't recall the name of and finished a long evening of sightseeing and drinking 300 feet above the city at the bar on top of or hotel, the Marriott-San Francisco. http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sfodt-san-francisco-marriott/

Since we were there in December the sun set rather early so I couldn't actually "see" a lot of the sights that night. Luckily I managed to awake from my haze rather early on Sunday morning and go for a walk. It was about 7am in San Fran, but I was used to CST so it was about 9am to me. It was a Sunday morning so I had the city all to myself. I was even able to meet a bird who is obviously used to tourists. It made perfect sense to me why this city is so highly regarded. With the sole exception of Florence of Venice, San Francisco is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. It also didn't hurt that it was about 65 degrees and sunny in the middle of December.

After I went for my walk, game time was around the corner. Why would you go to a Vikings-49ers game in San Francisco and wear all St. Cloud State stuff??? I don't know. . . ask Steve. I can't say Monster Park is much to brag about, but the views are stunning, see photos. The Vikings ended up blowing out the Niners and Jeff ended up dropping a beer on some snobby wench who was scamming a seat in front of us.

We ended the weekend back at our hotel where we met some new friends.

Overall, the trip was a great success. I only wish that I could have spent more time there. I see myself coming back to this city many times in the future. The only question now is. . . where am I going next year?
