In a survey I had to take recently at work, I had to answer the question, “What would your ideal day be like?” Although I didn’t specify by name, the vision I described in my answer was at the Aster Café.
Kirk and I have made a habit of walking over to the Aster Café on Saturday & Sunday mornings to enjoy a cup of coffee as we watch the awakening of the riverfront along St. Anthony Main.
On a summer morning, we like to relax at a table in the cobblestone courtyard tucked away between the café & Vic's. The courtyard is adorned with Baroque-style fountains, plenty of warm shade and feisty little Chickadees. It serves as the perfect perch to read the newspaper, study up on our trip or just be. The café also offers live acoustic-style music in the evenings & serves wine alongside a modest selection of simple, yet tasty, fare.
I can’t think of the word that the Italians have for the art of doing nothing, but, the Aster Café is a place to do just that – and love every moment of it.
